March 26, 2009 - Eureka, CA Old Glory Radio Organizers of what is being touted as a fundraising benefit to offset costs of defending local military recruiting bans in the cities of Eureka and Arcata California, have apparently duped many local businesses into quasi-sponsorship of military recruiter bans.

The leftist Redwood Peace & Justice Center, located in Arcata, CA is sponsoring a “Beer and Bread” tasting event Friday, Mar 27th 2009 in Eureka Ca. Cost of admission $15.00.

From the Redwood Peace & Justice Center press release:

“Proceeds from this year’s event on Friday March 27 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Vets Hall, at 1425 J Street will also go to the Humboldt Committee for Conscientious Objectors/GI Rights Hotline. The HCCO/GI Rights Hotline volunteers advise and support young people with military issues.”

Several local bakeries and micro-breweries were listed as sponsoring the event. When called, all of the businesses claimed no knowledge of the reason for the event.

Speaking for the Eel River Brewery, a company official stated, “we don’t make political statements and were unaware of the anti-military message.” A popular local bakery, Ramone’s, echoed the remarks, relating that the people requesting the donations of their products for the beer and bread tasting did not mention the anti-military focus of the event.

None of the event sponsors which we contacted, were aware of the use to which the money raised would be put.

Military recruitment within city limits came to the forefront of local issues last November when the cities of Arcata and Eureka voted to ban military recruiters within city limits. These measures are being challenged by the Department of Defense and Department of Justice. The “Beer and Bread” tasting is to raise money to defend the measures in court.

Humboldt Couny local and Southern Oregon Corporate sponsors listed are: Beer - Lagunitas, Sierra Nevada, Six Rivers, Mad River, Lost Coast and Eel River. Bread - The North Coast Co-op Bakery, Los Bagels, Brio, Tofu Shop, Wildberries, Wild Flower Café and Ramone’s.

Calls to phone numbers associated with the Redwood Peace & Justice Center for comment were either disconnected numbers or in one case, after identification as media request for comment….. denial of association with the organization. Even though the number is listed as their organization contact number.

FOLLOW UP: 26 Mar 09 - I received a call from Bill Prescott of Los Bagels, who issued the following statement: “we support the measures passed by the votors in Eureka and Arcata and the event”. Los Bagels is the only listed sponsor of the program spoken to that has issued support for raising money to defend the banning of military recruiters in the cities of Eureka and Arcata. NOTE: Mr. Prescott contacted me after the article went to print. His initial comment when asked about his support of the event was “no comment” prior to publication. It should be noted that they (Los Bagels) went out of their way to let the community know via this article that they are behind the banning of military recruiters in the Cities.

We have forwarded the comments made by the management of Los Bagels to the area VFW, American Legion posts as well as the Coast Guard station. We will be doing a follow up after the event and report expected blow back toward area businesses.

Birdies are chirping into our ears that the city of Arcata Ca. is thinking about officially opening up the Arcata Redwood Park for squatting of the increasing homeless population attracted to the city for it’s free services and open marijuana distribution centers.

Old Glory Radio suggests that Children and pets wandering through the trails of the city park should be supervised. Hypodermic needles, human waste, crime, open drug use, and garbage continue to pose a public health problem.

Old Glory Radio is pleased to announce that at noon, Wednesday 1 April 2009 we will be gathering at the Humboldt County courthouse in Eureka Ca., to honor the former President of the United States, George W. Bush.

The purpose of the meeting is to establish a committee for the raising of funds to commission either a statue or bust of the former president to display in the Eureka Ca public area.

As this can be an expensive project, it may only be possible to have a bust made, location to be the library, should a full stature be able to be financed, we hope to have a formal statue placed in the Plaza downtown in Eureka.

George W Bush has served as a symbol of the hope of freedom for millions around the world. His successful operation of liberation and freedom is a legacy that will never be forgotten. His ability to maintain our civil liberties, and through keen financial oversight, has both warmed our hearts and protected our pocketbooks during these troubled times.

Perhaps Michael Gerson writing in the Washington Post has captured the essence of his administration when he wrote:

“But that humanity is precisely what I will remember. I have seen President Bush show more loyalty than he has been given, more generosity than he has received. I have seen his buoyancy under the weight of malice and his forgiveness of faithless friends. Again and again, I have seen the natural tug of his pride swiftly overcome by a deeper decency — a decency that is privately engaging and publicly consequential.

Humboldt County Ca., is a place of tolerance, a land of vision. I know the many citizens of the county will welcome an opportunity to reflect upon and honor the good works of such a man.

The creation of a statue will be an enduring symbol of history in the community, Something that parents and teachers can use as a teaching aid and serve as a daily reminder to the community of the man….the times……and our appreciation of his public sacrifice.

We will be meeting at noon in front of the courthouse on 1 April to demonstrate our love for the memory of the wonderful years that we all were a part of. Tom Fredriksen, the host of Old Glory Radio, will deliver a short speech. Please bring signs and flags. Anyone who has composed a song or poem…….feel free to perform. Hello, I don’t like to talk to people. This is all I have, it contains a part of me.

To understand me all you need do is put the back of your hand to your forehead, I live through you. Can you not begin to feel my dark sensuality and sweeping sadness? I am so sad that  Arkley will develop the Marina Center so I will  support him as will the others in my group.

I will be crushed if he does not win his fight,  the others in the town do not possess the true spirit, they are imposters, feigning obeisance at the throne of the mystical and ancient ways of the Black Sages. As such they are unworthy.

We are forming this Goth Arkley Support Band to help Rob Arkley continue the sadness. His actions facilitate our morbid fascination and the beauty of enduring pain. Many people lead unhappy lives and that is sad. Arkley and his Marina Center will continue the sadness. He knows that gentle people are excellent for spanking. His expansion policy is the best, he spanks the world and the unseen one knows it deserves it, so beautifully dirty, grimy and perverse.

We are witnesses to the horrific, the media interprets this as meaning we are the perpetrators. This is not true. We are in love with religious imagery, because of its power, darkness, and intangibility.

For us Rob Arkley is a religious object, to be placed on a pedestal. We want this page to be a reliquary to the re-zoning of the Balloon Track

We are serious and want to help him and keep him developing. It amuses us on many levels to do so. Please help us maintain this simple web page so we might communicate with other bands.

Goth Talk: With Lady Elianor

To start all of this, I would like to state I do not know my purpose in writing this, and I will not know until I am finished. I do not know if anyone but me will understand, or comprehend what I am trying to say in this, and I do not know if anyone cares either. It matters not though, I am writing this for myself, to try to see if you can help me understand why I am depressed, why I am not happy like everyone else, and why I can’t take life for granted. The next few paragraphs should explain to you, in detail, my feelings, my views, and hopefully the truth on what is wrong with great ol’  Humboldt County.

Now from what I have heard, and this may not be true, but I have heard it nonetheless:

Harborite-Americans are not as happy now as they were forty years ago. Now you yourself may say you’re happy, but let’s look at you, let us look at yourself and see if you cannot find holes in your happiness. Many people are out for money, that is all they are out for. People work at a job not because they enjoy it, but because they want money. A lot of  Humboldt, a very large majority I have found, believes they can find happiness in money. Honestly, I believe they are wrong. How can money be happiness when you are alone? But then maybe you argue that with money you would not be alone. If people like you simply because of your money, you are more alone than I am. I walk down the face of this Earth, alone. I am holding no ones hand, and no one is behind me saying keep on going, or keep on moving. When I stumble, when I trip, no one helps me up. I have to get up myself. That is being alone. Having company that stays with you because you have money, that is a whole world worse, because then you’re just lying to yourself.

Happiness, it’s a wonderful thing, many say they have found it, and wear a happy face, and many are lying to themselves. Some people, yes, there are those out there, are happy. Truly happy. When you leave your house to go work at your job for hours each day, are you happy? Do you look forward to slaving over papers at a desk? When you come home to find whatever you have at your house there, are you happy? Or does each and every day seem worse than the last one? Does each and every day seem to just eat another part of you alive? Because many, all too many people feel the latter. If people could stop seeing life as a chance to make money and be someone important to everyone. It’s not about that. Life is about people. If everyone could just find someone else, we wouldn’t have famine, we wouldn’t have sickness, we wouldn’t have poverty. We wouldn’t have conflicts over land, we wouldn’t kill each other for a dollar. I doubt I will ever see the day that humanity realizes this, and I doubt I will ever find someone to hold me. But if eventually we could evolve to such a level, we would truly be better than apes, as we claim to be.

Please, each and everyone of you, think about this. Think about life. Think about happiness. Think about development, and think about tearing the earth. Then, after you have, Ask yourself, do you want to be happy, or would you rather be rich? And then ask, which is really worth more?

Arkley Convergence  01.23.09

Minutes

Among our band there are two conflicting memories of the first Arkley Convergence. One is of  nearly unprecedented controversy; presaging doom, corruption, incompetence, and all manner of nebulous outrages related to an expected travesty of an event. The other image is of a real-life,  event attended by 8-plus  pro Economic Developmentgoths who, by almost all accounts, enjoyed themselves immensely and compared C1 with previous Convergences in a positive light.  The story of Convergence Arkley 1 is  inverted in the most stark terms, as you shall soon read. Appearances deceive.

To set the mood, Mistress Lucada played  music from Cadle of Filth, Angelwhore and Llacuna Coil..  The windows were then suitably duct-taped and otherwise lightproofed; the only light allowed near us was the glare reflecting from Elianor’s red  lipstick.  We were satisfied  that the  facility was properly set for dominating the minds of innocents and forcing them to accept the Marina Center.

We began with a short reading from Poe and discussed  the true horrors of life under Rob Arkley. It was agreed that there is no hope, only pain and sadness and that he would continue to provide us with the same.  Lord Pom led us to taketime to deal with our  personal  immense displeasure of living.

Refreshment break:  - Snacks were generously provided by the kind macrobiotic staff of the Arcata New Earth Kitchen Fertile Foods store, here in Arcata Ca.,  and consisted of Evian water and fresh strawberries in kefir, thanks for the support!

We decided to collect money for Rob Arkley and raised $6.00 between us. It was decided the best way to spend it would be to take the bus  to the Bayshore  mall and seek out others that we could convince to support the Marina Center…….. and our  sadness.

We were able to bring back ‘boye with no name’ We found him standing outside of the food court and he was wet from the rain. He looked beautiful with his black hair sticking to his neck and his make up running down his soft face. We told him he should stay wet and we would let him join our social circle. He was sad and welcomed the company to share his sadness with and agreed to support continued development of the Harbor with us. Already our working for Arkley is of benefit to our band. Through him, we are growing.

We decided to end the meeting as several needed to return to their dwelling places and agreed to meet again next month for he who builds.

Truth be told……I personally leaned toward marriage for everyone. It was hard to attend the gatherings here in Humboldt County this past year and meet the everyday people to which Gay Marriage meant so much. One particular interview I conducted with with Rebessa Caya, of Humboldt Pride.

What a nice lady who took the time to educate me on the issue and make herself available for any questions….at any time.

Another interview earlier in the year was with the national organization of Out Take Online, and it’s national director Charlotte Robinson. We have kept in touch and become friends. Another example of out reaching to the community to change minds and work for their issue.

Fast forward to the present. Prop 8 passed. New organizations have formed. New tactics developed. Not to educate and lobby for the Gay Marriage issue, but rather to destroy.

I received an interesting email from the new California director of Join The Impact outlining the coming assault on anyone who dares oppose Gay Marriage. And I use the work assault deliberately.

Local group calling for reprisals on local Humboldt County Citizens and businesses as sent to me via the Join The Impact newsletter:

As you see on the site, every individual who supported Prop 8 here in Humboldt County is listed. Inference is to cause action against these individuals and businesses.

STATE WIDE EFFORT

Shawn Steele in his Nov. 26th Flashreport, outlined several examples of this movement and the ramifications on some individuals in Southern California:

Richard Raddon, LA Film Festival’s director was hounded from his job because he is a Mormon who gave $1500.00 to a proposition that supports that marriage is between a man and a woman.

Scott Eckern, Artistic director of the California Musical Theater, for 26 years earned the wrath of the Gay Fascist Left who demanded his head. Eckern also a Mormon was forced out of his job. His action was to write a check for $1000 for Proposition 8. His sister is a lesbian and they are close. But he chose to exercise his constitutional rights and it cost him his career.

Majorie Chrisofferson, a manager for El Coyote restaurant, gave only a $100 and her employers and business is getting trashed.

Even Prince, the 80’s rocker, who is now a recent Jehovah’s Witness convert, is being maligned for supporting the Bible’s pro marriage messages.

There is a great deal of hatred over this proposition. But it principally comes from the Gay Left.

Churches are vandalized and picketed. Mormons while attending their churches are attacked. Terror threats have reached into the Mormon Temple in West LA and Salt Lake, with powdery white substances, looking like anthrax, are mailed.

There is of course more. What concerns me is the Gay community really made inroads this last year as reflected by such a close vote. The inroads were made by going into the community, shaking hands and personalizing the issue. By losing control of the message and giving the issue to the radicals within their organization, it will do nothing but erode the support they have worked so hard over the past few years to create.

The Mormon Church is also under attack on a variety of fronts. One additional email I received from Join The Impact attacked the church in a form that would certainly be considered “Hate Speech” in any courtroom. Interesting, since at the core, the Gay Marriage proponents are using the term “hate speech” as a central focus in their literature and message.

The tactic of destroying people and businesses leaves itself open to civil action as well as Federal voter intimidation charges as contained in the voting rights act of 1964. Denying free speech, or the ability to support or not support an issue is at the core of society. While the tactic of intimidation may be a feel good response, it will certainly cause the movement both future votes, community support, and more importantly…….credibility.
