I’m old enough to remember Hippy Junction as it was called. The intersection on 101 that went to HSU in Arcata. As a kid, we always laughed at the hippies who hung around there hitching a ride. I also remember when the South Spit didn’t have crusty squatters polluting the landscape. Humboldt County’s hippies used to be something funny to point at. Now they’re just crumbling eyesores.
