What may not be commonly known is that DHL has long been using the Postal Service to deliver parcels. They drop shipments at P.O.s every day. If you're worried about the Postal Service simply dropping a package at your house, because you're concerned with it getting stolen- GET SIGNATURE CONFIRMATION, it's cheap, and if the recipient of the package isn't available to sign, they'll have to go to their P.O. to pick the package up, just like with any other shipper!
Businesses can also get caller service through the P.O., and pick up their packages and other mail at an assigned station.

ED NOTE: Exactly what dream world do you live in? When you order something do you think there is this big involved conversation with the company about shipping? The company ships it and as you can see here and doing some research on your own, DHL doesn't tell the company they pick up from they will be handing the package off to a third party. DHL will be in the dust heap of failed delivery services not because of the economy, but due to their lack of ethics.

Well, it was posted on Logistics management site from an industry source that DHL will downsize by 50% now. It is rumored that an announcement will come next week.

I still have heard nothing about any of our staions closing on any media outlet. I have heard plenty about what's going on at GM up in Janesville. I listen to talk radio all day long while i am driving for a contractor of DHL, i have other names for them, but I have to keep it clean! I think our customers deserve to know what is going on. I am not exactly sure why they have kept quiet. My only guess is they don't want to lose the international business they have here in the states. 40% of their glaobal freight originates in the US (maybe Canada and Mexico also in that total). They recently worked out an agreement with Walgreens as ashipping spot. I think that is yet another way to still keep business here without having to make residential pickups, possibly deliveries as well. There is also something going on with our international freight in the UPS stores in Canada. They launched some new program to be able to ship via DHL at UPS stores. If anyone is really interested as to what all of us are going through, drivers, customer service reps, call centers, union and non-union workers, please visit this site exdhl.com. This seems to be the only way we (people working for DHL or contracting for) can find out anything!

I'm sorry, what is on the website is absolutely nothing! I work for a contractor of DHL and there is a lot more going on behind closed doors that we don't know everything about. If the information is so readily available, why can't I find out any information on what zip codes the USPS is now delivering for us? Why can't I easily find out about which stations are closed or are slated to close???? Please, if you have this information, could you share it with me and my fellow drivers?

Go to www.dhl.com and, under DHL News, click on the link 'DHL Express U.S. Update'. Here's the link here http://www.dhl-usa.com/restructuring/index.asp

You get all the news on the restructuring as it happens. Transparent. Open. And not rocket science or a big black holes getting the information.

Nothing is being kept quiet. The news is issued in a press release as and when it happens.

Thought you'd like to know is all.

EDITOR NOTE: July 4th - Thank you for your information. Let me get this right. Everyone who ships anything should first go to the shippers web site, try and find news, read it, and then ship their package? Sorry....it doesn't work that way...... but to recap .....according to my shippers, DHL all of a sudden decides while packages are in the system that they won't deliver them and hand them off to the post office. The thought that they decided to do this bright and early on say....Monday morning....requires a suspension of reality. Now I am not a barron of business, but let me tell you how I would do it. First, notify my customers that zip codes will no longer be serviced....say maybe give them a month or so notice. Keep the good will and build my business the best I am able to do. Keep my trust, which at the core is all a business really has..... And to the Corp DHL guys reading this, I don't know what you are paying the suits in your boardroom, but you are getting hosed. I'm not that busy, give me a call.....I will fix it for you and it won't cost you hardly anything.
